12 Days of Christmas Book Tag

Belated merry Christmas, guys! 😀 I hope you all had a lovely, wonderful time? Well, I sure did — and I still haven’t been able to get over the festive mood (and the FOOOOD — mmmm!). So obviously, I went searching for some Christmas-y book tags for me to do here, and my — the blogosphere’s been creative coming up with them! This is my favourite out of the bunch: the 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag, which I got from Summer @ Xingsings. Heigh-ho! 😀

On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree.

…The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

Umm… I have a feeling I’ve mentioned this book way too many times on this blog…
…but guess what, I’ll just shamelessly say it again. 😛

Yep, you guessed it right — Just One Wish by Janette Rallison. God, I just LOVE that book. ❤

just-one-wish1

On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves.

…Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

I don’t think it’s possible for any of us bookworms to have only one ‘one true pairing’, but somehow, whenever I hear that phrase, I automatically think: Elizabeth and Darcy. Their relationship is just so incredibly CUTE!!! ❤ ❤

Me: *dies*

On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Three French Hens.

…In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

Umm… it’s a tie between The Infernal Devices and the Legend trilogy. Both of them are just perfect. *_*

tumblr_mwkd7m3yco1rbywgfo2_1280

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds.

…Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

This is the easiest question under the sun. Harry Potter, of course! No other series could ever occupy such a mega-huge part of my childhood, my heart and just my overall life.

hogwarts
Hogwarts: My home, forever. ^_^

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings.

…One ring to rule them all! Who is your favourite Villain/Antagonist?

Sebastian from The Mortal Instruments. Enough said.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying.

…Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

Can I just say Harry Potter again? No? Okay then… I’ll have to settle for the next-best one : the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. It has everything a world can possibly have! I swear, I just don’t know how these authors manage to create these worlds… (and why they don’t just turn their worlds into reality for us… 😦 )

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming.

…Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

Oh gosh, there are so many! I’m tempted to choose between Hedwig or Crookshanks, but I have another totally awesome animal friend in mind — Blackjack from Percy Jackson! 😀 He’s the coolest creature in the world, and I love him to death. 😀

You go, Blackjack! 😀

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking.

…Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

Okay, now I definitely can’t resist any longer. When it comes to food and beverages, I MUST use Harry Potter as the answer! Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavoured Beans and Acid Pops and Butterbeer — it’s all so yum! I think I could practically spent the entirety of my life in Honeydukes alone. 😀

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing.

…Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

Okay, this is SO not fair, there are so many kickass heroines to choose from! :/ If I was forced to narrow it down, though, I’d probably go for Celaena from Throne of Glass or June from the Legend trilogy. I LOVE THEM BOTH.

Pretty kickass, eh? 😀

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping.

…How about your favourite leading lad?

Oh, this is easy. Percy Jackson all the way! 😀

Capture

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping.

…What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

Umm… off the top of my head, the only book that’s coming to my mind is Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, so I guess that’ll have to do.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming.

…Drum roll please… what is your favourite read of this year?

Whaaatt??!! 😮 Okay, no way can I answer this question. There are SO MANY awesome books I read this year!!! Books like Bang and Beloved and Throne of Glass and Fangirl and A Court of Thorns and Roses and Living Dead Girl; AND also series’ like The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices and the Legend trilogy… HOW AM I TO CHOOSE???

Uh, so that’s it, I guess. This post was supposed to be up on the 25th, but… I don’t know, something went wrong with WP. *shrugs* Anyway, here’s wishing you all a belated Merry Christmas! 😀 Do tell me how your Christmas days went, I’m all tuned in!!! 😉

Love you guys the best,

The Crazy Perfectionist ❤

The Bedtime Book Tag

So I’ve finally gotten some free time to myself (after, like, forever…), and I wanted to post something here (after exactly a month. One. whole. month. How sad is that? 😦 ). And since I was (am) feeling reeeeal sleepy, this tag came to mind. I was tagged to do this book tag by the wonderful Tasha @ Head in the Clouds, Heart in the Books and Erika @ Erika in Bookventureland. They’re both awesome people with awesome blogs, so you should totally go give them a visit!

Let’s move on with the tag now, shall we? 😀

1. A Book That Kept You Up All Night Reading

I actually read far more at night than during the day, so most of the books I’ve read will actually fit into this category. But one book comes to my mind that literally did not allow me to sleep, even after I’d finished it. I was tossing around in my bed, trying desperately not to reach for the sequel that was lying just beside me. Can anyone guess which book this was?

Anyone? No?

Well, the book was…

Kind of expected, no? 😉

2. A Book That Made You Scared To Sleep

Ha! I’ve grown up reading horror, so there’s rarely a book that gets me that scared. However, there is one book that seriously got me scared. Like, scared to go to sleep, scared to walk around in the daylight, scared to even step outside the safety of my home…

livingdeadgirl

Yes, I am aware that I am mentioning this book for probably the fifty-seventh time on my blog, but Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott seriously gave me the chills. Go on, give it a read… but you have been warned.

3. A Book That Made You Go To Sleep

No offence, but I honestly felt that Allegiant had a lot of unnecessary things going on in it. It was like Veronica Roth had written the book just for the sake of writing it, not to bring out a story that was interesting enough to read. After Divergent, I just had very high expectations for the remaining two books; sadly, they seemed to go downhill from there. While Insurgent was still okay, Allegiant was just meh.

4. A Book That Left You Tossing and Turning All Night in Anticipation of its Release

I remember I had SO many theories for this one book (one theory actually involved Sirius coming back to life… why, oh why, could that not happen? 😥 )

On a different note, HAS ANYONE SEEN THE NEW HP COVERS??!! They’re gorgeous!!!! ❤

(Seriously, when I saw them at the bookstore, I became a super-excited fangirl trying to jump around like a kangaroo. Even with my hands clamped tightly on my mouth, the squeals were loud enough that everyone in my vicinity turned around to give me odd stares. Except an old gentleman who was browsing through the non-fiction section. He just smiled and shook his head at me. I guess he understood my state of mind at that moment. 😛 )

5. A Book That Has Your Dream Boyfriend

Will Herondale, I’m all yours. ❤

6. A Book That Would Be Your Worst Nightmare to Live In

Fighting in the Hunger Games for two consecutive years, and then (if I even survive, that is. Chances are about minus five.) fighting a war of that intensity… I can’t imagine anything that could possibly be scarier than that.

7. A Book That Reminds You of Night-time

Just look at that cover. Can anything be more beautiful? ❤

Night-time, did you say? 😀

8. A Book That Had a Nightmarish Cliffhanger

Let’s just say that Rick Riordan takes ‘cliffhangers’ way too literally…

9. A Book That You Actually Dreamed About

I don’t remember what exactly the dream was about, but I do remember that it had Jace in it. (*does an mental swoon*)

10. A Book Monster that You Would Not Want to Find Under Your Bed

The Basilisk, without a doubt. Or Medusa. I mean, all I’d have to do is look… and I’d be dead.

So that’s the bedtime book-tag, guys. Like I said, I’m waaay too sleepy to tag anyone right now, but feel free to have a go at it if you like! Don’t forget to link back, coz I’d definitely be checking out all your answers!

For now, wish me sweet dreams, okay? 😛

The Sick Book Tag

Hey guys! I realised I hadn’t done book-tags in a long, long time, and since they’re actually my secret love, I decided to bring them back. 😛 So here’s presenting the Sick Book Tag, stolen from dancingone. Enjoy! 😀

1. Diabetes – a book too sweet, like really sweet.

I have a feeling many of you have already guessed which book I’m going to choose for this one.

anna2

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (whose surname I always tend to misspell, which annoys me to no end).

Also, I’m currently reading The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West, which is quite sweet, too! ❤

2. Chicken Pox – a book you picked up once but will never pick up again.

There are tons of books I could use for this one. To Kill A Mockingbird, The Good Earth, House of Leaves, Wuthering Heights… even Lord of the Rings, actually.

Don’t get me wrong, I really loved To Kill A Mockingbird and LoTR and The Good Earth, but I remember all too well the struggle I had to undergo to actually get them finished. I don’t think I’m willing to go through it again. House of Leaves was okay, but definitely not appealing enough for a re-read. As for Wuthering Heights, anyone who has read this post of mine knows that I do NOT like that book.

3. Influenza – a contagious book that spreads like a virus.

“Spreads like a virus”… in the market? Or in the reader’s mind?

If I’m going with the first option, then the answer’s very obvious.

If I see this book one more time, I think I’m gonna start having dreams about the cover. Seriously. I mean, it’s a good enough book, but my eyes can only bear to see a single book cover so many times…

And if I’m going with the second option, then…

the_lightning_thief_cover

Again, an obvious answer. Do I even need to explain?

4. The Cycle – a book you read every month, year, or often.

IMG_20150426_173417

Not every month or year, but it’s definitely the book I read most often.

5. Insomnia- a book that kept you up all night.

livingdeadgirl

I know, I know, y’all are simply tired of hearing about this one from me. But what can I do? In my mind, it’s THE most horrifying book. But at least now I don’t think about it every 10 seconds!

6. Amnesia- a book that’s forgotten and didn’t leave a powerful impression in your memory.

How am I supposed to name a book that I’ve already forgotten?! How paradoxical!

Okay, let me rack my subconscious mind a bit… 😉

… Aha!

The only thing I seem to remember about this book is that I’ve read it. I also remember that it was a Miss Marple case, which is mainly the reason why the book failed to make an impact on my mind. I don’t really like Miss Marple. Poirot is so much more awesome! 😀

Asthma- A book that took your breath away.

20150320083033!Divergent_(book)_by_Veronica_Roth_US_Hardcover_2011

I’ve said this to my friends several times, so I might as well say it here. When I’d finished reading Divergent (I’m talking only about the first book here), I felt like I had just experienced the entire Huger Games trilogy again. It was just that good. And it definitely took my breath away.

Malnutrition- a book that lacked food for thought.

I haven’t read anything like that recently, so I’ll go with the only book coming to my mind right now.

long-time-to-finish

Road to Paradise by Paullina Simons. In short, a book with a whole lot of nothing going on.

Travel Sickness- a book that took you on a trip through time and space.

Um, sci-fi is not really my genre, so I’ll simply go with this one:

Time Machine by H. G. Wells. It’s the best my mind can come up with.

That’s it for now, au revoir!

❤

The Desert Island Book Tag

Thank you so much Danielle @ If We Shadows Have Offended… for tagging me! Your book-tags are always cool and I really love this one!

1) Water: a book you simply cannot live without

splash water

That’s easy, Harry Po-

Okay, I’ll come up with something different this time 😛

Um… so I guess that’d be Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw. I have too many memories associated with that book to be able to live without it…

cvr9781416500407_9781416500407_hr

2) Food: a book that is a close second on your favourites list

tumblr_mvq3xwPRo41t03ar1o1_500

I devoured them in the exact same way, believe me…

3) Shelter: a book that makes you feel at home and safe

9780330418027

Star of Kazan was my first Eva Ibbotson book. After that, I just came to associate Eva Ibbotson with home and warmth and hope and well-being and anything along that line. But Star of Kazan will always hold a special place in my heart ❤

4) Flare gun: a book that you would recommend to a person who doesn’t read

Previously I would’ve chosen Harry Potter without a second thought. But in the last month itself, I’ve come across seven different people who don’t even want to read it! :/ Sooo, now I’ve changed my answer :

just-one-wish1

Just One Wish by Janette Rallison is sure to win anyone’s heart! 🙂

5) Fire-matches: book that warms your heart

anna2

It’s such a lovely book! ❤

Although now that I think about it, most of Eva Ibbotson’s books will also qualify for this one…

Oh, and there’s one more book that I must mention here :

Ah, Wes… *sa-woon*

6) Compass: book that directed you towards your love for reading

compass

I don’t even remember! Actually, my mother was the one who got me into reading. Right from when I was a little child, she used to tell me bedtime stories and leave them incomplete so that I’d wait to hear the last part the next day (I know, she’s cruel). When I started reading words, she’d leave the book around somewhere close and then tell me that she was busy or something and that I should just try read it myself. And I used to do just that (of course, she’d come help me whenever I got stuck with ‘tough’ words 😀 ). So by the time I’d finished first grade, I was well into the habit of reading. A slow reader, but definitely an enthusiastic one.

But if I had to choose an answer to this question, I’d probably go for :

or maybe :

I was always somewhat prejudiced against Hardy Boys, though, which is why I never became too fond of them.

I honestly don’t remember what I read before these! There were those Ladybird “read it yourself” books, though…

😛

This was fun! 😀 And now for sharing the fun, I tag:

Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag

I was tagged to do this by Nerdybirdy @ Daydreaming Books. Thanks, Poulami! 😀

So there are 3 rules to this tag-
1) Pick any five books randomly (or not randomly, your choice)
2) The first name you see when you flip open the book on a random page, will be the person who is the answer to the question.
3) Each of the book must answer two questions.

I decided to randomly choose one book each from my five top-favourite series. Here they are :

DeathlyHallowsCover

On to the questions!

1. THE FIRST PERSON TO DIE?

Thalia.

NO!!

Shoo, zombies – leave Thalia alone! She’s my favourite character after Percy, she can’t just die! Get that? GET. THAT?

2. WHO WILL YOU TRIP TO GET AWAY FROM THE ZOMBIES?

President Snow.

WITH PLEASURE.

3. FIRST PERSON TO TURN INTO A ZOMBIE?

Harry.

Wait, what? The Boy Who Lived, a zombie?! Someone pinch me now, I must be having a dream! (or a nightmare, rather)

4. WHO IS THE PERSON THAT TRIPS YOU TO ESCAPE FROM A ZOMBIE?

Annabeth.

What the heck? We’re supposed to be siblings!!

10561216_848074308573589_1959789486_n

Not good, Annabeth.

5. THE IDIOT OF THE TEAM?

Isabelle.

Izzy, an idiot? *facepalm* I don’t even know where this is going…

6. THE BRAINS OF THE TEAM?

Jeanine Matthews.

Ha! I have no fear now! She’ll come up with an Anti-Zombie Serum in no time! 😀

7. THE TEAM’S MEDIC?

Haymitch.

Nooo… he’d be too drunk to cure anyone… 😦

8. THE WEAPONS EXPERT?

Tobias.

Yes yes YES!!! I’m saved! Hurray!!!

9. THE BRAWLER?

Hermione.

Okay, I’m not feeling comfortable with this…

10. THE TEAM CAPTAIN? (AKA The person who you depend on to survive, so hopefully I get someone smart)

Jace.

I knew you’d get me out of this, Jace, I absolutely knew it! ❤

I think I’ll make it through this one guys… what do you all think? I’ve got Jeanine as the brains, Tobias as the weapons expert and Jace as the captain, after all! I just need to get the team medic changed as soon as possible.

Although I still don’t know how Izzy can be an idiot and Harry can be a zombie…

Anyway, this was a lot of fun! I suggest you all do this (I’d love to see whether you survive the apocalypse or not 😉 )

May the odds be ever in  your favour!

Your Life in Books Tag

Thank you alextheshadowgirl for tagging me! This is indeed a very cool tag! 😀

1) Find a book for each of your initials

My initials – B.D.

51srBOCdgBL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

Beloved by Toni Morrison. How many times have I mentioned this book again?

aaand :

20150320083033!Divergent_(book)_by_Veronica_Roth_US_Hardcover_2011

I don’t think there’s anyone out there who doesn’t know about this book…

2) Count your age along your book shelf- which book is it?

The 16th book there. And it’s :

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. It’s there on my TBR. I’ve had mixed reviews about this book from my friends, but I’m definitely going to give it a read soon.

4) Pick a book that represents a destination you would love to travel to.

Alps… Switzerland ❤ … a part of my heart has always been with this book, ever since I’d first read it so many years back…

5) Pick a book that’s your favourite colour

White! ❤

(Sorry if the cover looks a bit… invisible 😛 )

And I also love the alternate cover for Beloved…

dandelion-cover

Isn’t it beautiful? ❤ I wish I had this instead of the red one 😦

6) Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

cvr9781416500407_9781416500407_hr

I have so many different happy memories with this one, I’d be tired of sharing them all… *nostalgic smile*

7.Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

There are two, actually :

I remember taking, like, forever to finish reading these books. Thankfully, both of them turned out worth the struggle 😀

8) Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest sense of accomplishment when you finish it?

a-thousand-splendid-suns

Like I mentioned in my 2015 Popsugar Reading Challenge, I’d started reading this book but never finished it. Don’t kill me! I really wasn’t in the mood for scenic descriptions and that sort of stuff when I started reading it… naturally I found it quite boring and put it off for a later time. Then I started reading other books and… you get the point, don’ t you?

But this time I’ve promised my friend that I will read it, no matter what. 😀

Ok, so now I tag: YOU.

Yes, you. Come on now, this is so short! If you haven’t done it already, just give it a try! I promise, it won’t take much time!

Stay awesome, guys!

The Courtship Book Tag

Another book-tag! 😀 And this one has such a fabulous theme too! Thank you Sripurna for tagging me! (although I did have to pester you at school for it…)

Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover

11709322

The title was pathetic, at least to me. The summary made me think of those typical high-school-drama novels that I always tend to avoid. But that broken glass on the cover. That’s what got me to give the book a try. As it turned out, the book was better than I’d thought it would be… although I still don’t know what to think of the ending…

Phase 2 – First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary

They say when you take revenge against another you lose a part of your innocence.
But I’m not innocent.
I haven’t been for a very long time.
My innocence was stolen from me. Taken was the life I was supposed to have. The soul I was born with. The ruby heart embedded in a life full of hopes and dreams.

Gone.
Vanished.

I never even had a choice.
I mourn that life. Mourn the what-ifs.
Until now.
I’m ready to take back what was always meant to be mine.

But every plan has a fatal flaw. Sometimes it’s the heart.

That’s the Goodreads summary of Bang by E. K. Blair. It was enough to get me to read it, even though I didn’t like the name of the book (I still don’t). It’s really well-written with a fabulous plot, (although some parts are just… eww. Trust me.) and it’s got pretty good reviews and ratings, which it totally deserves. It’s a crazy book with an even crazier ending (till now I’m kind of contemplating what happened). I just know that I wasn’t able to put it down until I’d read till the very end – it was that gripping. Actually, just go and check it out yourselves. But be warned, as Goodreads says:

**Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only as some scenes may be particularly disturbing.**

And this is VERY true. I can read just about anything, but this book does have some real hard-to-digest scenes. Sensitive readers, stay 5.637 miles away. At least.

(I think I might do a review on this book, actually, but it’s not gonna be too soon. I have too many pending posts right now.)

Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing

isbn9780753827666

I finally managed to read this book. And I… am totally at a loss for words. I’ll only say one thing: if there’s anyone who hasn’t read this book yet… go. and. read. it. NOW.

Phase 4 – First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pursue the rest of the series

Like Sripurna, I don’t know how many to name.

There’s The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan…

the_lightning_thief_cover

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien (although it’s considered to be the prequel and separate from the series)…

Divergent by Veronica Roth…

20150320083033!Divergent_(book)_by_Veronica_Roth_US_Hardcover_2011

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins…

cvr_hungergames_movie

and obviously,

Harry_Potter_and_the_Philosopher's_Stone_Book_Cover

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J. K. Rowling ❤

and the latest one…

bang

Bang by E. K. Blair. I have to read the next books…

Phase 5 – Late night phone calls: A book that kept you up all night long

51srBOCdgBL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

Beloved by Toni Morrison.

And when I was younger…

act1_anne_frank13

And when I was even younger…

I think this is the first book that had managed to scare me.

Phase 6 – Always on my mind: A book that you could not stop thinking about

Every book I’ve ever read. I swear, whenever I finish reading a book, it’s literally the only thing on my mind (well, apart from homework, of course 😛 ). Most of the time I just fangirl and blabber to anyone who’ll listen, but some books… they’ve either made me feel so stunned or shocked or dazed or… (well, you get it, don’t you?) that I just stay quiet and… think. Like Gone Girl, for instance.

But to this day, I believe the most time I’ve given to thinking about a book is…

And I’m not kidding here! I’ve spent hours and hours –

1. Thinking about the all loopholes in this book (and the entire series)

2. Trying to find out what exactly people find in this series that makes them love it so much

3. Wondering why I don’t manage to find those stuff

4. Muling over the idea of a sparkling vampire and how ridiculous it is…

Phase 7 – Getting Physical: A book in which you love the way it feels

I mainly read e-books because they’re easier to read (and because I read them faster) … and I can’t really feel them in that way. But if I’m talking about the feels given by the books.. I think I’d go for Bang by E. K. Blair. Because that’s literally the only one coming to my mind right now.

But,

because I’m never happy with only one answer, I’m also gonna add:

20140514-032943

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Parkins. Ah, all the cute feels that I got with this book… ❤

Phase 8 – Meeting the Parents: A book in which you would recommend to your friends and family

just-one-wish1

Just One Wish by Janette Rallison has a quite simple plot – nothing that’ll blow off your mind (though Annika as a character definitely has the potential to do that). However, it’s got a perfect combination of everything required for melting your heart – whether with its warmth and love or with its grief. And it’s a book which I can recommend even to my non-reader friends and family members, because I know they’ll love it.

Phase 9 – Thinking about the future: A book or series that you know you’ll re-read many times in the future

Series :

Due to obvious reasons.

Book :

IMG_20150426_173417

Again, the reason’s obvious.

Phase 10 – Share the love!!! Who would you like to tag?

Gods of Olympus Book Tag

I found this at If We Shadows Have Offended… go check her out because her blog is one of the coolest. blogs. EVER. I’m actually gonna be doing a lot of her book-tags here, now that she’s officially given me permission to do them. 😀 So here we go! (I honestly had to try my best not to answer every question with the Harry Potter series…)

Zeus: Name your favourite fictional leader, good or bad?

Tris from Divergent. She actually reminds me of myself, except with a lot less humour (although that’s not her fault, it’s how the circumstances made her) and a lot more of that Abnegation selflessness.

Hera: Who are your favourite fictional parents?

Definitely Mr. and Mrs. Weasley from the Harry Potter series! Here’s an example of why I love them so much:

and another one from Mr. Weasley…

and the classic one from Mrs. Weasley…

Ah, the memories… ❤

Demeter: What fictional food would you like to try?

I’m gonna try everything at Honeydukes (yum!) 😀

I mean, have a look at these…

and these….

and these, too…

and a last one…

that’s Honeydukes for u ❤

and that’s me, gobbling everything up… 😛

tumblr_mvq3xwPRo41t03ar1o1_500

Aaand since I’m also a demigod, I’d love to taste some nectar and ambrosia too! 😉

Poseidon: Name a book where water is central, either in setting or plot.

18212906

“…There’s this feeling you have on a good surfing day. It’s you and the water and the air rushing all around you. It’s the closest I get to living all the way to the edges and only a surfer knows that feeling. Everything seems endless.” I pause to think about it. My eyes close and my free hand goes out to my side as if reaching for the water. “It’s pure oblivion.”

That’s Landon Young speaking there. The hero of the book. A surfer. Enough said.

Dionysus: Which character would you most like to have a party with?

That would be be Leo from Heroes of Olympus. He’s one person who’d totally add life to a party! 😀 And maybe I could also get him to make some remote-controlled trays that could talk and serve dishes on their own! What say? 😉

And just because I love u, Valdez…

Commander Tool Belt forever! 😀

Apollo: Either name a great debut book (so an author’s first published work) or name a first book in a series you really enjoyed.

I have enjoyed all the first books in all the series that I’ve read (with the only exception probably being Fifty Shades of Grey. Even Twilight started off fairly well, to be honest) , even the ones that I had to chuck afterwards as they deteriorated. However, the one book that left me the most eager to finish the entire series then and there, would be…

the_lightning_thief_cover

…not Harry Potter, my friends, but The Lightning Thief. There’s just something in Rick Riordan’s writing style… it’ll leave you satisfied but not quite satisfied… always wanting more, never wanting it to end.

Artemis: ‘Of all the Greek goddesses, she was the most self-sufficient, living life on her own terms, comfortable both in solitude and in holding the reins of leadership.’ Who is your favourite self-sufficient female heroine?

Hermione, obviously. Can you see just how perfectly she fits the description? In fact, if I ever got a chance to visit the Hogwarts library, Hogwarts: A History would be the first book I’d read, just for her!

And obviously there’s someone else waiting to be mentioned…

Katniss Everdeen, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more self-sufficient heroine than you. Even though you felt apart a bit in Mockingjay, I’ll always admire you…

And Peeta’s right, you really don’t know the effect you can have. ❤

Aaand since I’m reading The Mortal Instruments right now, I’d also like to add one more kick-ass female character here:

“Don’t bother her, don’t try to talk to her, don’t even look at her, or I’ll fold you in half so many times you’ll look like a tiny little origami werewolf.”

Yes, that’s Isabelle Lightwood from TMI. God, Izzy, where do you get all that sassiness from? 😀

Athena: Name a character who is wise.

Professor Dumbledore.

Obviously.

Because, well, when we say ‘wise character’, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is the first name that pops in our mind, right? (Ok, maybe not the whole name…)

But here, too, is another name that I must mention… especially when I’m talking about wise…

gandalf-quote

Hats-off to you for being such an amazing and wise character, Gandalf! (and also for tolerating Frodo when he became so annoyingly whiny at times…)

And here’s my favourite quote from each of these two wise people…

From Dumbledore:

and from Gandalf:

Conclusion: You both rock!

Hermes: If you could travel to any fictional setting (real world or fantasy) where would you go?

Hogwarts, obviously.

hogwarts

although I’d happily settle for Camp Half-Blood as well…

Hephaestus: If you could have any fictional tool made (for example a weapon or a gadget), what would you want?

A time-turner, please, Lord Hephaestus! I need that object in my life, and for the same reasons that Hermione needed it…

*sigh* And there goes my plan of not using HP references for every answer…

U guys must be so fed up right now.

Ares: What is your favourite fictional battle?

The Second Titan War from The Last Olympian (sorry Danielle for using your answer, I really had no choice!)

Especially the part where Clarisse fights with the blessing of Ares surrounding her as a red aura…

And obviously that part where Percy creates his own mini-tornado while fighting… that was like EPIC COOL.

Aphrodite: What is your ultimate ship (the characters do not have to be from the same book)?

I’ll try to keep this list short here…

Percabeth from the PJO series, Harry / Hermione from the HP series, Four/Tris from the Divergent series, Katniss/Peeta from THG, Anne/Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables and obviously Elizabeth/Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.

I’m actually gonna be doing a post on this soon, so stay tuned! 😉

Hades: If you could petition Hades to bring any fictional character back from the dead who would you choose?

Oh gosh, I’ve got so many! *spoilers for Allegiant, Fault in Our Stars, The Great Gatsby and Harry Potter series here* There’s Tris, Augustus, Gatsby and everyone who died from the Harry Potter world! (yes, Lord Hades… Sirius, Remus, Tonks, Dobby, James, Lily, Fred… I want ALL these people back! And don’t forget Hedwig, either!)

I’m gonna add a final question for Hestia because I’ll feel pathetic if I do a Gods of Olympus book tag without mentioning her. She’s my favourite out of them all ❤

Hestia: If book that filled you with a warm hope inside.

9780330418027

My first Eva Ibbotson book… I fell in love instantly… ❤

Final question(s): If you could be a God/ Goddess of anything what would you want to be and what do you think would fit your personality? These do not have to be the same.

I’d love to be the goddess of Happiness! And I think that’d suit my personality as well… 😀

And that brings us to the end of this tag. I tag: ALL of you out there! If you want to do this, feel free and go ahead, just drop a link in the comments so that I can read your answers too!

Have fun!

The Ice-cream Book Tag

First of all…

Ice-Creams-ice-cream-34733238-640-480

Yum!

Ok, I just had to do that 😛 For those of u who don’t know, I love ice-creams. Like Akansha (click here to know the story of this amazing little girl), I think I could live on them, too.

Moving on to the post now… I found this awesome book-tag at If We Shadows Have Offended… and although I wasn’t officially tagged, I was granted permission to do it. 😀

1- Peanut Butter: a very long book series that you really want to read, but probably won’t and why

I usually love book series, so I don’t think I know of any that I’ve decided not to read. Even if I don’t like the reviews, I’d probably give them a try, at least.

2- Chocolate: a book you would read over and over and over and over again

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Need I say more? 😉

Although I’d never thought of comparing it with chocolate before…

3- Pistachio: a book with a green cover

Road to Paradise by Paullina Simons. The only word that comes to my mind when I think of this book – loopholes. Loopholes here, loopholes there, loopholes almost everywhere. Please do NOT read this book. I’m sure there are far better books to spend the time on :/

4- Strawberry: a book with the cutest romance

anna2

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Parkins. The cutest romance, did you say? Well, that’s just what this book is. ❤

5- Lemon: a book with a sour ending

There’s obviously Allegiant by Veronica Roth… 😥

…but speaking of sour endings, there’s one classic that I’ll always remember…

Rings a bell? 😦

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

6- Mint: a children’s book that you like

51VB0hnD6mL

No Flying in the House by Betty Brock. It’s so sweet and beautiful and innocent! ❤

7- Vanilla: your favourite classic

That’s right, vanilla always goes with favourite! 😀

My favourite classic? Like, only one? This is gonna be hard…

aaand found it! 😀

IMG_20150426_173417

The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde. My all-time favourite…

8- Whipped Cream: a very long book that you read really really fast

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

It’s an 890 pages book, yet the first time I read it, I had it finished in less than 11 hours… and considering how I scrutinise every single line while I read, I think that was pretty fast.

That’s it, guys! I tag:

The Disney Book Tag

A big thanks to shriyabeesam for tagging me to do this totally awesome book-tag! Without further ado…

1.) Part of Your World: What book world would you change yourself for so you could be a part of?

hogwarts

Do I even need to say this? Hogwarts, of course! 😀 I can literally die to go there and get trained as a witch! Please please please can someone help me trace my Hogwarts letter? I’m pretty sure it should’ve arrived by now…

2.) Let It Go- What book did you not want to finish because you loved it so much?

Just One Wish by Janette Rallison. This book was so sweet and so hilarious at the same time! And there were so many times when I was literally deciding whether to burst out laughing or just ‘aww’. I really didn’t want this book to end… and definitely not the way it did…

3.) Beauty and the Beast- What book do you think is/will be timeless?

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Only yesterday my friends and I were talking about this book… it got me thinking about how timeless this book is, for us to still have each of the characters etched clearly in our mind, years after having read it.

Speaking of timeless, however, there is another book that I MUST mention…

ss_Matilda

Even though all of Roald Dahl’s books will always be timeless, Matilda will always remain my favourite out of them all. I can never forget her or her disgusting parents or the wonderful Miss Honey (who was just as sweet as her name suggested) or the foul Miss Trunchbull (who was just as loathsome as her name suggested)…

4.) So This is Love- What book were you hesitant to read at first but ended up loving?

No, I’m not joking. I had a very wrong idea about The Hunger Games trilogy initially. It was totally my fault – I just read some reviews and based my opinion on that. To this day I don’t understand why I didn’t go and check on Goodreads, or read some more reviews like I usually do… I guess it was a really strong first impression. :/ In fact, if it hadn’t been for a friend who kinda forced me to read it (yes, u read it right, forced me to read the Hunger Games), I don’t think I’d ever have given it a try. To this day, I’m immensely grateful to her for giving me this amazing series.

5.) Friend Like Me- Which character would you like to be your best friend?

That would be Leo from the Heroes of Olympus series. 😀 I love him, he’s totally awesome! Funny, sarcastic and loyal to the end – who wouldn’t want a best friend like that? I really hated how he kept feeling like the seventh wheel and how nobody tried to get to know him better (I had my hopes high on Percy in this regard, but he failed me badly 😦 ), with the exception of probably Hazel…

Commander Tool Belt all the way! 😀

6.) Reflection- What book really made you think/changed the way you viewed things?

I’ve mentioned this before in my Bookshelf Scavenger Book-Tag (check it out!) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho has had a considerable influence on my way of thinking ever since I read it… I love the philosophy in the book.

7.) Colors of the Wind- Who do you tag?
