Liebster and Siblinghood Awards

I’d been nominated by Alextheshadowgirl (who is one of my blog sisters, so you should totally check out her blog!) for a couple of awards — the Liebster Award and the Siblinghood of the World Bloggers Award. Since she’d combined both the awards in a single post, that’s what I’m gonna do as well.

SIBLINGHOOD (SISTERHOOD) OF THE WORLD BLOGGERS AWARD

image

RULES:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their blog.
2. Put the award logo on your blog.
3. Answer the 10 questions sent to you.
4. Make up 10 new questions for your nominees to answer.
5. Nominate 10 blogs.

I’m not gonna be nominating anyone because I’ve done this award before. (Actually it’s because I’m lazy, but it’s always nice to have an excuse.)

ALEX’S QUESTIONS:

1) If your life was in danger, which book character would you want to be your Knight in Shining Armour?

Umm… Jace from TMI, please. ❤ *swoons*

2) Name a book villain you love to hate.

Bellatrix Lestrange. I HATE her. I LOATHE her. I will never forget that part in the Order of the Phoenix and what she did to Sirius… 😥

3) What’s the place you’ve dreamed of going since you were a kid?

Switzerland!!! ❤ The day when I actually visit that place is gonna be the happiest day of my life. 😀

4) Your favorite TV shows and why you love them.

I don’t really watch TV that much, so… *shrugs*

5) Your favorite band and song.

My FAVOURITE band would be Maroon 5, but I have to give a shout-out to Imagine Dragons and Pentatonix as well… they all rock! My favourite song from Maroon 5 would be Moves Like Jagger. I will never stop loving that song…

6) How old are you and what do you do for a living?

I’m 17 and a student at school. I mean, we just had our last day of school a couple of weeks back, but our exams are gonna last for a long while, so… still a school student for now. 😉

7) A writer you want to meet and what would you say if you met him/her.

Ohmygosh J.K. Rowling. Or Rick Riordan. Or Neil Gaiman. Or Cassandra Clare. Or Stephen King. Arrggh I don’t know.

8) Zombies or Unicorns?

UNICORNS!!! I LOVE UNICORNS!!!

9) Favorite contemporary author and book.

Right now, it’s probably Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.

10) One thing you want to say to me.

Hey there, sis! I just want you to know that you’re one AWESOME person and I’m SO glad that I met you. I hope we keep in touch forever (so that if you ever manage to bring Will Herondale to life, you don’t forget to call me up! 😉 ).

Okay now… moving on to the Liebster Award… drumroll please…

LIEBSTER AWARD

RULES:

1. Acknowledge the blog that nominated you and display the award.
2. Answer 11 question that the blog gives you.
3. Give 11 random facts about yourself.
4. Nominate 5-11 blogs you think are deserving of the award that have less than 200 followers.
5. Let the blogs know you have nominated them.
6. Give them 11 questions to answer.

ALEX’S QUESTIONS:

Umm… she hasn’t left any, so I’m gonna answer the ones that she was asked.

01. If you could only take 3 books with you to Mars which ones would they be?

I hope there are libraries or bookstores in Mars, because there’s no way that I’ll last long with only 3 books with me. I’d take Robinson Crusoe in the hopes of picking up some survival skills, the Percy Jackson series because I only trust Uncle Rick to make me laugh when I’m having the dullest time possible (who can have fun without books??!), and something by Neil Gaiman because Neil Gaiman = perfect and I like perfect things like that.

02. Name a writer you’d invite to dinner?

Arrgh I don’t like these questions, I never know how to answer them!!! I’ll just invite everyone I mentioned in Ans7. above.

03. Pick a book everyone loved but you hated.

I remember reading a couple of books like that this year, but I can’t recall them now.

04. Pick a book you think should be banned.

None. Everyone has his/her own opinions. Just because I don’t like a book doesn’t mean someone else won’t like it either. By banning the book, that person loses the opportunity to even read it and that’s just unfair. Also, every book is the result of many people’s hard work and each of them deserve a chance to be out there and read.

05. Who is your most read writer?

Either Stephen King or Agatha Christie or Rick Riordan. I’m definitely too lazy to count and decide.

06. Name a series you couldn’t finish.

I started reading The Heir (book 4 of the The Selection series) but I quit after about 5 pages because I thought the main character was too snobby. Too quick a judgement, I know, but I really wasn’t in the mood then. Maybe I’ll pick up the book again later… DNF-ing is not really my thing.

07. Name a classic you think everyone should read.

Pride and Prejudice. And Oliver Twist. And also, if you can tolerate just a bit more of dark, The Picture of Dorian Grey. They’re all amazing books. (Well, pretty much all classics are amazing, but that’s not the point.)

08. Name a graphic novel you want to turn into a book.

Like Alex, I don’t read graphic novels…

09. Name a book you want to turn into a graphic novel.

Umm… since I don’t READ graphic novels… *shrugs*

10. Favourite time period to write about.

The post-apocalyptic world, I think.

11. A writer you want to write your biography.

Rick Riordan, without a doubt. Funny and sarcastic is definitely how I’d want my biography to be.

RANDOM FACTS ABOUT MYSELF

1. I was originally named Vramori but later my parents decided to change the spelling to Bhramori. I know in English the two pronunciations are quite different from each other, but in Bengali, my mother tongue, ‘V’ is pretty much equivalent to ‘Bh’.

(Wow, that must’ve been the most boring random fact you’ve ever heard…)

2. I am a vegetarian — been one for 8 years.

(And that was even more boring…)

3. I am totally jealous of people who know how to sneeze silently. Like, how do you guys do it?! Also, raising an eyebrow. I have RUINED MY FOREHEAD TRYING TO DO IT, I think — but I always, ALWAYS get both my eyebrows up together. Why can’t I raise A SINGLE EYEBROW??!

3. When I was young, I participated in a race — when it was time to run, I ran in the opposite direction! The referee had to chase me around the field a whole 3 times to catch me. And I actually thought I had won! 😛

4. My friends at school often call me ‘Bharmione’. It’s a nickname they’ve made by joining my name with Hermione. Apparently, I’m a lot like her…

5. I have a fascination with names that begin with ‘C’. Like, Cassandra and Cordelia and Cynthia… C names are all so beautiful! ❤

6. My favourite word keeps changing all the time, but right now it’s ‘nostalgia’.

7. I have a host of pigeons living in my balcony. All day long, they keep moaning (really, their sounds are just like moans! And they keep doing it all the time!) and leaving poop everywhere. I’m quite fond of them, but sometimes they really annoy me.

8. In spite of this, I plan to have a lot of pets when I start living on my own. I want to have a parrot and two rabbits and a dog and a cat. And an aquarium. I MUST HAVE AN AQUARIUM IN MY HOUSE.

(Can I also have a pet squirrel…?)

9. I want to learn all the languages in the world. But I know that’s not possible, so I have convinced myself to keep it restricted to only French, Spanish, Italian, Latin and Galician.

10. This one is gonna give you all a shock — I’VE NEVER HAD A SINGLE CRUSH IN MY 17 YEARS OF LIFE. Honestly. Even I don’t understand how it’s possible, but it is. I have celebrity crushes and book boyfriends, obviously, but I’ve never liked a person in that way in real life. Hard to believe, isn’t it? 😉

11. I have realised that I suck at giving out facts about myself so now I’m going to stop.

Okay guys, I already said I’m not gonna nominate anyone, but if you wanna do an award post then you can just pick either one (or both) and post on your blog. You can answer the questions that I answered. Link back here, though! (That way I’ll be able to tag you in this post.)

Bye for now! Have a great day! 😀

The Crazy Perfectionist ❤

Beautiful Blogger Award

Thank you Alextheshadowgirl for nominating me! It’s really beautiful to be considered beautiful by people, no matter how tiny the reason is! 🙂

Yaayy! ^_^

THE RULES

Link to the blogger who took the time to nominate you. List seven random things about yourself. Nominate seven creative, beautiful bloggers. Notify the amazing people that you nominated for the award.

7 RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME

1. I can hardly write with gel pens. They slide too much on the paper and make me uncomfortable. Also, the refill gets finished up in a very crude manner. There’s usually still some ink left inside that you can see, but still it doesn’t work. So annoying :/ Dot pens are the way to go! They write perfectly and even finish up in an organised way!

2. I had French classes in my school for 3 years. I loved taking them and I was always the topper in my class. However, our French teacher kept changing, which hampered our learning. I mean, no one lasted more than a few months! There were times when I wondered if the job was tabooed (like the post of the DADA teacher in Hogwarts, remember?)

I used to be able to speak fluent French during that time. Sadly, I’ve forgotten most of what I’d learnt (mainly because of lack of communication. It all wore out. I mean, who am I supposed to speak with in French?) but one day I’ll speak it fluently again. I’ll take as many classes as required for that, but I’ll get there.

3. I have a cream-and-blue teddy bear called Fluffy, which is very fluffy and I love cuddling it. I’m afraid I’ve choked it too many times while reading suspense scenes in storybooks 😛 Sometimes, I sit on the bed and sing songs to it 😀

IMG_20150610_190543

That’s my Fluffy. Cute, isn’t he? ❤

4. I just really love odd numbers. They’re so different-looking, somehow. Even numbers look so plain. I mean, just look at 26 and then look at 51. Do you see what I mean now? No? Well, then…

5. Speaking of plain, I don’t really like Mona Lisa. She looks so ageless, timeless, emotion-less and so on — all of which I find very unsettling. Also, she doesn’t have eyebrows! That’s so weird! Vinci must’ve been pretty stingy not to lend her a pair…

See? No eyebrows! :/

6. I like using double quotes more than single quotes (except when I’m quoting a word. With single words, single quotes come naturally). Somehow, I don’t feel like single quotes make the impact that double quotes can manage…

7. I love chocolate. And ice-cream. I know I’ve probably said that a gajillion times here, but oh well. I don’t think a list of random facts about myself can be completed without mentioning my love for chocolate and ice-cream 😀

Now for the nominations!

Personally, every blogger I know is beautiful in his/her own way. So if I’m not taking your name, it doesn’t mean that I’m forgetting you. It only means that choosing only 7 bloggers to nominate is really very hard, so you’re not allowed to mind! 😉

The Versatile Blogger Award

Thanks again abOOkishOwl for nominating me for this award! I don’t know how versatile I am, but I do try my best! 🙂

Rules:

  1. Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  2. Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  3. Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.
  4. Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link back to the post on your site announcing their nomination.
  5. Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

7 Facts About Myself:

1. I have really big feet, which means I often don’t find shoes that match their size.

2. Which reminds me, I HATE shopping. Like, really. No. interest. at. all. Am I the only girl in this world who thinks like that?

3. I love learning about word origins. Did you know that the word ‘word’ has its origins in Old German, Old Dutch and Old Norse?

4. I have a lucky pen but I’m always too afraid to use it (for the fear that it’ll get finished up). Yeah, talk about irony…

5. Bees seem to have some sort of animosity towards me. I’ve been bitten five times by them. They always seem to enter the room from the window nearest to me and keep following me around everywhere. And I literally mean everywhere.

6. I love alliteration. It’s so wonderful! Just speak this out loud: “Listen to the lonely lunatic talk about his life’s lessons.”

Didn’t it sound beautiful to your own ears? ❤

7. I love to type! It’s one of my favourite things to do. Although I want to increase my speed… last time I checked, it was only 35 words per minute. 😦

My Nominees:

Joey @ thoughts and afterthoughts : When I think ‘versatile’, this is definitely the first blog that comes to my mind. You go, Joey!

shriyabeesam : Like I said, whatever I do, I must tag you in it. 😉

swxftbooks : Same goes for you, Reema. I love your posts! ❤

Danielle : Yess… another very versatile blog. I’m so glad I discovered it!

Sripurna : If I’m doing any sort of tag and I’m not tagging this girl in it, then there is probably something very wrong and you guys have the full authority to come and ask 😀

bookwormgirls123 : I discovered this one very recently and I’m so glad I did! It’s such a cool blog!

Umbreen : Talk about being versatile…

analeeluvsbooks : My newfound sister! ❤

Books’N’Feathers : Another blog that literally defines ‘versatile’…

hermionefowl @ Addlepates and Book Nerds : Ha, if you guys don’t know about this blog, then I don’t know what you’re doing with your lives…

alextheshadowgirl : You go, girl! You and your blog – both are amazing!

joysofbookworms : How can I ever forget you, my dear bookish friend? 😉

Lunatic Wanderer : Even when she’s not posting book reviews, her posts always soothe my nerves and help me get a hold on myself. It’s so serene and mesmerising and beautiful and you all should definitely check it out ❤

I know I was supposed to nominate 15 blogs, but my brain refuses to work right now, so I’ll end it here.

The Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

sis

Thank you so much abOOkishOwl and then Sripurna and then shriyabeesam and then Amy for nominating me! Friends, if any of you haven’t checked out their blogs yet, I highly recommend you do, because they’re all awesome!

(Gosh, this post is super-late! 😛 )

Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
  2. Put the Award logo on your blog.
  3. Answer the ten questions sent to you.
  4. Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
  5. Nominate ten blogs.

abOOkishOwl’s Questions:

1. What time of the day do you spend most time reading?

At night. Because if my mom ever caught me reading books during the day, I’d be dead meat. And I’m not even joking on this. My life is just… *sigh*

2. Where is your favourite reading spot?

Depends on the book, really. If I’m reading mystery/thrillers/horror, I like to sit upright on a chair, senses on the alert. If I’m reading something romantic, I’d definitely prefer snuggling up on my bed, with a bunch of pillows surrounding me on every side.

3. What book are willing to sacrifice? (THROW:___ BURN:___ DROWN:___)

Throw? Drown?! BURN??! 😮

I can’t do that to any of my books!!!

4. What genre do you refuse to read and will never ever read?

Uh, I don’t really have anything like that. There was a time when I stayed away from erotica… now that’s gone. I’m still very choosy regarding it, though…

Also, paranormal romance. I’m very choosy on it, because it just creeps me out. But it’s not like I refuse to read it.

5. What book made you want to visit the place or country where it was set?

Yes, you guessed it right. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I so want to go visit France now! ❤

6. What was the book that made you believe you wouldn’t like it but you actually did?

I honestly didn’t believe I’d ever like this book, but then… You never really understand a book until you consider things from its point of view, right? 😉

7. Is there any not-so-bookish thing on your bookshelf? What is it?

Uh.. I’ve got a couple of show-piece thingies and a picture of my dad…

8. If you were to choose a dystopian world to live in for one week, what world would you choose?

I’m pretty sure you all think I’m crazy for saying this, but I’d love to live in the world of the Divergent series. In both the settings – inside and outside the city. I can’t really explain why I want to live there… maybe it’s just because everything there seemed so organised to me…

I’m not mad, I swear!

9. If you woke up one day in a body of an author? Which author would you want to be and what would you do?

J. K. Rowling. I’d take a sneak peek inside my (her) mind and find out how exactly I (she) manage(s) to write in that perfect, beautiful, wholesome manner. ❤

10. What is important to you in a book? (plot, writing, character…etc)

All three are equally important. But if I had to choose, I’d say the plot is what matters most to me. I just can’t stand a weak plot. And if a weak plot has great characters, that just gets me more frustrated – like how can the author make a waste of good characters like that? And if the characters are also bad, then it’s simple – book, I hate you!

Sripurna’s Questions:

1. What’s your favourite word?

I keep posting a favourite one everyday, and you expect me to list just one?

Still, if you insist… right now I have two favourites… caraphernelia and petrichor.

tumblr_mpljlmdKui1ql4i5yo1_500 Capture

2. What’s your favourite subject in school? (Just curious :-P)

English and Chemistry. But you already knew that, didn’t you?

3.  Romance novels or action-packed thrillers?

Uh.. can’t I just have a mixture of both? 😀 Sorry, but too much of either one gets me losing interest…

4. Music or sports?

Music all the way! I love music, I don’t think I can live without it ❤ And I’m really not into sports…

5. Who’s your favourite person?? (You can name multiple people..)

Right now it’s Jace from TMI 😉

6. (Cliche question) Which book character would you like to meet and why?

Um, that would be every character from every book that I’ve ever read. To slap or kick or hug or kiss or, I don’t know, shoot with a gun? *smiles innocently*

But right now (after Jace, of course) I really really want to meet June and Day from Legend. I love them both to death! ❤

Oh, and Isabelle from TMI. She. is. just. so. awesome!

7. What’s your favourite colour, and why?

That’s easy. White. Because it’s so pure and innocent. And it portrays peace; yet it also portrays death and grief (at least in my religion it does). It’s as if the colour quietly bears everything, without ever losing its purity. Nobody even notices it because it’s so… plain, yet it always maintains its goodwill (you’d never be able to associate white with aggression or revenge). It makes me feel like no amount of grief can take away who you really are. It’s really beautiful to think about…

8. What co-curricular activity are you really good at? Or, better phrased, what’s your best talent?

Apart from my academics, my biggest talent would be singing.

9. One book you hate to admit that you liked.

Meh. I don’t have any book like that. Either I hate a book or I love it or maybe it’s something in between, but whatever I think on it, I pride in my thoughts! If I like a book, then there’s nothing that could make me hate to admit that.

10. Your favourite food.

You all probably know this by now…

and

Yummy-licious, aren’t they? ❤

shriyabeesam’s Questions:

1. Who is your favourite book villain? Why?

Jeanine from the Divergent series. Again, I know what you all are thinking – this girl is absolutely mad! But it’s not like that. I guess I always saw Jeanine in a different light altogether… no matter what she did, it was extremely well-planned and well-executed. All the time. She hardly ever lost composure. She was a real genius. And no matter what she did, she had excellent leadership abilities, you have to give her that. Throughout the rebellion, I couldn’t help but admire her sense of organisation. She just had a wrong conception of what should be done and what shouldn’t, and for that I feel sorry for her…

I really should stop before you all begin to think that I’ve completely lost my mind…

2. What is the novel at the top of your current TBR? Why?

After finishing The Mortal Instruments and the Legend trilogy, I’m going to move on to The Selection series and The Infernal Devices. The former because all the hype is getting me curious and the latter because TMI is getting me curious.

3. If you could only pick one fictional boyfriend (I know, hard), who would it be and why?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Jace Wayland from TMI. ❤

Reasons

1. He’s perfect. Perrr-fect. Like, in every sense of the word. Seriously, he’s just perfect. *swoon*

2. I love him. ❤ ❤ ❤

3. He’s perfect and I love him, what else do you want?

4. What is your favourite song lyric?

Check out my top 30 songs here, I can’t choose!

5. What is your biggest OTP from a novel?

It’s really hard to choose, but my two biggest ships will always be Percabeth from Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Elizabeth-Darcy from (obviously) Pride and Prejudice. Right now, there’s also June-Day from the Legend trilogy ❤

6. What is your favourite movie this year?

Apart from Frozen (which is now my favourite Disney movie), it’s Grave of the Fireflies. That movie’s got a heart-wrenchingly beautiful story with it, and I strongly suggest that you ALL watch it!

7. What is your favourite book series and why?

Again, you all must know this by now…

I hope you don’t seriously expect me to explain why.

Because it’s Harry Potter, duh.

8. If you could meet a book character that you hate and could knock some sense into, who would it be? What would you tell them?

Presenting…

…the dumbest heroine of all times! Yes, you got it right, that’s Anastasia Steele from The Fifty Shades of Grey. Words cannot describe how much I hate her. At least Christian had some character development (even though it seemed too ridiculous to me) throughout the series, but she had absolutely none of it! I don’t know, maybe the Goddess of Dumbness realised that she’d have nowhere else to live if Ana’s mind underwent improvement? I remember there was something in the book about her inner goddess jumping up and down with pom-poms (I’m not making this up, it was really there) so I’m sure we can pretty well understand how mature her ‘inner goddess’ really is…

More reasons to hate Anastasia Steele:

  • She calls herself a feminist; yet she can’t stay away from the guy she just broke up with (who’s a total control freak, by the way) and for what? Sex? Seriously, girl, you’re just pathetic! Does the word ‘self-respect’ even exist in your dictionary?
  • She’s supposed to love literature? Where in the books do we ever see her reading something? Or engaging her mind in any topic other than her oh-so-desirable Christian Grey?
  • Oh, and she doesn’t even have an email address! And she’s a 21-year-old college student?!! How stupid. How. incredibly. STUPID.

I never thought I’d come across a character who would seem even more pathetic to me than our beloved Bella Swan, but Ana, you totally get the prize for this one…

I think that also pretty much summed up the ‘what I’d tell her if I met her’ part, didn’t it? 😛

9. Which author’s writing style do you like the best?

To be honest, every writer has a unique writing style that appeals to me in its own way and I don’t know how to choose among them. But I really like Rick Riordan’s writing style, the way he can make everything sound so interesting. And Stephen King… the way he can just bring out the entire scenario alive in front of your eyes, making you feel everything like it’s happening to you. Oh, and Agatha Christie! Where would I be without Hercule Poirot? And Cecelia Ahern too! I can’t miss her out! And I absolutely must mention George Orwell and Bernard Shaw… I love their works…

Like I said, I really don’t know how to choose. Anyone willing to offer me a seven-days course to help me learn that skill?

10. Where is your most comfortable reading spot?

I already answered this for abOOkishOwl’s question no. 2

Amy’s Questions:

1. Who are your biggest influences?

Apart from my parents, it’d be my uncle. And Professor McGonagall and Remus Lupin from Harry Potter.

2. What does your favourite outfit consist of? (Post a pic, I dare you)

Probably something along the lines of…

IMG_20150521_132621

3. Favourite thing about yourself?

My ability to be completely random. If you want evidence, you can go see this post.

4. Something you can’t stand in other people?

When they talk about something they have no idea about, but they pretend to know everything about it. It irks me to no end!

5. Favourite TV shows?

I’m not much into TV shows… I used to watch Big Bang Theory. Now I sometimes watch Suhaani Si Ek Ladki. It’s a Hindi serial about two girls – one of them very beautiful, the other one not so much. The story’s mainly based on their strong friendship and how their lives turn out…

6. What’s on your phone case? (If you have one…)

I don’t have one.

7. Favourite school subjects?

I already said this. English and Chemistry.

8. Biggest ambition?

From my childhood, I’ve always wanted to become either a doctor or a singer. I realise that rising as a singer in my country is probably not going to happen for me, but I’m working my way towards the medical examinations…

9. Favourite books?

Amy, you cruel person, asking me this question! How on earth am I to answer this?!

Ahem, okaaay, so… let’s… begin?

Series

and the last two ones, which I haven’t finished yet but I’m definitely enjoying…

10. Who would play you in the film of your life? (So cliché, it’s killing me)

Okay, I’m a bit confused here. Should I name someone who’s had a life similar to mine or should I name someone whom I just want to portray my life as an actress?

I think I’ll go with the second option.

So that’ll be either Emma Watson or Jennifer Lawrence.

My Questions:

1. What’s your favourite eye colour?

2. Any peculiar reading habits?

3. Favourite festival?

4. Earliest childhood memory?

5. A book you keep recommending you everyone you meet?

6. Your biggest fear?

7. Anything that you would like to change about yourself?

Real Neat Blog Award

real-neat-blog-award

Yay, my second award in a month! Thanks to abOOkishOwl for nominating me (and right at number 1 in your list, too! 😉 ) Check her blog out because she’s awesome (and because she’s nominated me for 3 whole awards. Yay!) She’s actually clubbed two of her award posts into one, but I’ve decided to do them separately. The other two will be up soon as well, don’t worry!

Rules:

  • Put the award logo on your blog.
  • Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blog.
  • Nominate any number of bloggers you like, linking to their blogs.
  • Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
  • Ask 7 questions of your own, for your nominees to answer.
  • Let them know you nominated them (by commenting on their blog, etc.)

The Questions:

1. Who would be the villain you’re willing to date with?

Why on earth would I date a villain?! 😮 I know I’m a crazy person, but I’m definitely not that crazy.

But if I still had to choose, I’d probably go for Sebastian from The Mortal Instruments. I’ve kind of always liked him. Don’t ask me why, I just did.

2. What was the latest book you read and hated?

Um, probably Road to Paradise by Paullina Simons. I didn’t hate it, but I almost had to force myself to finish the book. The plot was a pretty loosely-woven one and the characters not-so-believable.

long-time-to-finish

3. What is that book you always recommend?

Well, it obviously has to depend on what genre the other person wants to read. My common recommendations are usually classics – maybe a Mark Twain or a Jane Austen. Or maybe a series. I have a special affinity for book-series ❤

For the past few months, though, all I’ve been recommending anyone is Beloved by Toni Morrison. That book is… indescribable. I think everyone must read it (although sensitive readers should be a bit careful before giving it a try…)

And my latest recommendation to everyone out there…

isbn9780753827666

If you haven’t read these books yet, please go and give them a try!

4. What are you passionate about?

Reading. And music. And Chemistry. 😀

5. From the Top 5 places you want to visit, where would you probably go first if you are given an all-expense paid trip?

Since Hogwarts is obviously not going to be available… SWITZERLAND!!! I’ve always wanted to go there, probably since the moment I was born! 😛

6. Where would you go: mountain or beach?

Beach, beach, beach! Definitely the beach, always the beach! ❤

7. What is that one thing you’ve always wanted to do but still haven’t done yet?

Having Belgian chocolate 😀

One day, I’m gonna go to Belgium and buy chocolates from all the chocolate shops there…

Ah, how wonderful.. ❤

*gets lost in daydreaming*

Sorry, what was I doing again? Oh yeah, the post… moving on from the delicious prospect of Belgian chocolate…

ALL NOMINEES ARE FREE TO REJECT OR ACCEPT THIS AWARD.

Sripurna’s Questions:

1. Five words to describe yourself.

Inquisitive, sensible, perfectionist, cheerful, random.

2. What is your best childhood memory?

Um, I don’t remember how old I was then, but there was this family function that we had to attend and the address given was really confusing. We were supposed to take a turn somewhere near a hardware shop, but we just weren’t being able to find the shop. Nobody was telling me anything, (adults…) but when I finally got them to tell me the name of the shop, I was the one who pointed it out. Then they were so proud of me. “You’re such an observant child”, said my mom. Good thing was, everyone was so happy that they allowed me to have three whole bars of chocolate at the function. 😀

i love chocolate photo: CHOCOLATE!!! CHOCOLATE.jpg

3. What’s your biggest regret?

I’d rather not answer this… there are wounds that still need time to heal..

4. What’s your favourite song?

My favourite song is something that keeps changing from time to time. Right now it’s probably Let Her Go by Passenger ❤

tumblr_mncwrxWyFL1snlqoho1_1280

5. Favourite thing about yourself?

I can bear even the most hurtful pain (pain in every sense of the word) with a smile on my face. 🙂 Nobody would ever get to know about what I’d be going through.

6. Favourite authors?

Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, George Orwell, Agatha Christie, Stephen King, Rick Riordan, Cassandra Clare…. the list goes on.

7. Who’s your favourite person in this world?

My dad. I don’t think I need to elaborate on that, do I?

8. Who is your favourite book character and why?

*shell-shocked by the question*

U expect me to list ONLY ONE favourite book character? Really? Really?

Sorry, I can’t do that.

There’s Jace from The Mortal Instruments; Percy and Leo from PJO and HoO; Four from Divergent; Augustus Waters from TFIOS; Hermione, Sirius, Lupin, Professor McGonagall and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley from Harry Potter; Peeta and Katniss from The Hunger Games…

U don’t know how much of an effort I’m making to stop the list there.

9. Mention three random facts about yourself.

I love playing around with words. My best friends know exactly how good I am at it.. *wink*

I have a lot of trouble remembering faces. I’d probably recognize you by your voice than your face. I know, it’s weird.

I really love singing. Even though I don’t learn it anymore (studies pressure), I try to keep in touch with music. I don’t think I could live without it. One day I’ll definitely start taking classes again…

10. Describe your favourite time of the year.

Springtime! 😀

(Even though we don’t get to experience the season that distinctly in my country… 😦 )

Shriyabeesam’s Questions:

1.) What is your favourite classical novel?

Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde.

     IMG_20150426_214118       IMG_20150426_173417

2.) If you had to pick a fictional boyfriend/girlfriend, who would you pick and why?

Jace from The Mortal Instruments!! Becaauuse… he’s perfect! Like, he’s sarcastic as hell, a deadly warrior, always has the perfect words to say for any occasion and moves with the grace of an angel! How could u not love him? ❤

e6719638c4c41fa28e34c75ba1746088

*sigh* How does he even manage to speak like that?

3.) Did a book ever make you cry? If so, what book was it?

Honestly, I can’t cry. I mean, even if I really, really want to cry, I can’t. The tears just don’t come. But there are only two books that have ever managed to make me cry…

IMG_20150423_170003

Anne’s life in this book is very similar to what my life has been till now. I’m not talking about being adopted from the orphanage part, I’m talking about how she and her life turned out after she was adopted. (The next books in the series, however, have nothing similar to my life.)

And there’s another book as well, but that’s a Bengali one. Every time I’ve read that book, it’s always left me feeling broken and miserable, crying my heart out. Here’s the cover:

shiuli_cover-400x400

Shiuli by Sanjib Chattopadhyay. It’s only 168 pages long, but it’s the simplest and the most beautiful, heart-wrenching book that I’ve ever read.

4.) Who’s your favourite singer? What are some of your favourite songs from him/her?

Taylor Swift, Owl City, Avril Lavigne. Sorry, I can’t choose one 😛

Taylor Swift – Almost all of her songs are my favourites but currently I’ve been listening a lot to Never Grow Up. It’s a really beautiful song.

969bdea5530ddf32f1a79b40a0fecfc3

Owl City – Like Taylor, most Owl City songs are my favourites. But if I had to choose, I’d probably go for How I Became the Sea or Fireflies or Vanilla Twilight (again, I’m very bad at choosing one)

Avril – Right now my favourite song of hers is Let Me Go

5.) What movie are you excited to watch or loved watching this year?

I’m not really a movie-person, to be honest. But there’s this movie I saw – ‘In Time’ – that I really loved. And of course, there was Frozen. ❤ I’m still in love with it. And there’s another movie that I already have on my pc but not getting time to watch… hope I make it soon. It’s called ‘The Grave of the Fireflies’. It’s supposed to be very touching, so I’m really looking forward to watching it.. 🙂

6.) What is your favourite book series?

I’d probably be able to answer this question even in my sleep… Harry Potter, without a doubt! With that plot, those characters, the places like Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, and sooo many delicious treats 😀 … who wouldn’t fall in love with that world?

7.) What’s your least favourite book (feel free to rant)?

Do I even need to mention this? Twilight!

And I’m not even going to begin to rant because then I won’t be able to stop and my hands will hurt from typing and I still have to finish this post. So, I’m just gonna take the help of this fabulous pic, which portrays my feelings perfectly:

Twilightdictionary

Uh, I actually don’t hate Jacob that much. He’s probably the only character whom I could even come close to liking.

8.) Who’s your favourite actor? Actress?

Actor – Ian Somerhalder

MySpace And MTV Tower During Comic-Con 2010 - Day 3

God, that smirk… *dreamy-eyed*

Actress- Emma Watson

beautiful-emma-watson-photo-shoot-hd-wallpapers-lovely-desktop-widescreen-background-images

Isn’t she just gorgeous? ❤

9.) If you got to choose a superpower, what would it be?

I think I’d go for charmspeak. I’m not particularly fond of Aphrodite kids, but I think being able to charmspeak could really come in handy. Plus, me being the word-twister I am, I can only imagine what all I could do with charmspeak…

10.) If you were stranded alone on an island and could only bring one book with you to keep you company, what would it be?

If I was allowed a series, then I’d definitely take all the Harry Potter books. 😀 But if I’m only allowed a single book, then I’d have to choose something short, sweet and humorous that I’d want to read over and over again. Uhh.. Just One Wish by Janette Rallison, maybe?

My Questions:

1. What made you start blogging and what do you like the most about it?

2. If you were allowed to spend a day with any one fictional character, whom would you choose?

3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would that be?

4. If you’re told that you can only have either music or books, what’d be your choice? Which book or song would you choose to have with you?

5. Top 5 book quotes?

6. Top 5 song lyrics?

7. While going for a book, what do you mainly base your choice on? The cover? Summary? Reviews? Ratings?

8. Ice-cream, chocolate or pizzas? 😀

9. Indoors or outdoors?

10. Violin or piano?
