Well, this is an interesting article. I think I’d prefer ‘xe’ to ‘they’ as a third-person gender-neutral singular pronoun, though. Whatcha guys think?

Hmm I dunno, I’ve always preferred they, mainly because I have a genderneutral friend who uses it.

‘They’ is definitely simpler, but don’t you think at times it can be confusing to use it that way? I mean, say, something like, “They trusted her. Or so she’d thought.” Using they, it becomes “They trusted them. Or so they’d thought.” It loses meaning, doesn’t it?

Partly, but if you know what it is in CONTEXT, then I think the meaning’s more clear.

Hmm… true enough. I guess it’s a matter of personal opinion.

My school does Safe Zone Training so I learned this when I was a freshman but completely forgot about. My gender neutral friend prefers “they” “them” “their” I’ve never met anyone that uses the singular term

Yes, but then… how do you refer to them individually? Doesn’t it get confusing?

Not really, at least I don’t think so. I think I just got used to it after a while and didn’t really think about it

Oooh I don’t know, I’ve never heard of that before. One of my friends is like both genders so she likes me to call her they.

Yes, ‘they’ does seem to be the more popular choice right now…
