The Veracity Challenge

I saw this at Ayushi Joshi‘s blog and decided to give it a try!

RULES:

  1. Write a paragraph without using a single adjective.
  2. Keep the link Veracity challenge in your post (so that the creator of the challenge may receive a pingback).
  3.  Anyone can join the challenge, you don’t have to be nominated!
  4.  Nominate 6 Bloggers for this challenge.

Oh gosh, I already know how difficult this is going to be, because I’m a person who basically lives off adjectives and adverbs. How am I gonna write anything without them?!

Okay, fingers crossed…

…and here we go!

It invariably saddens me when I read about the crimes being conducted in society. They prove the existence of men who have been drained of humanity. Or are currently being drained. Only yesterday I was reading about a girl who had been abused by her father and step-mother for months. They had even thrown acid on her face. Can you imagine the agony that she must have gone through? Can you imagine the pain, the suffering?

What good can possibly come out of crimes like these? Nothing. Nothing at all. Most do it for money or vengeance; for others, I cannot even imagine the reason. The criminals don’t care what happens to their victims afterwards (if the victims even live, that is), displaying selfishness and cruelty beyond imagination. It is this — a display of in-humanness by human beings themselves — that weighs on my mind constantly.

Phew, that was quite a task! Thank god for adverbs, or I definitely wouldn’t have survived (in case you haven’t noticed, I used a ton of them here). And yeah, I stretched the one paragraph rule to two paragraphs, because this is a topic that’s very close to my heart, and I wanted it to have some depth — although I don’t know how much of that I actually managed to convey without adjectives!

And my nominees for this challenge are:

Analee@Book Snacks

Amy@cl0udbusting

Sripurna

Nerdybirdy@Daydreaming Books

Ella Iparis (I miss your old name! 😦 )

Tasha

Danielle@If We Shadows Have Offended…

Erika

everywordyousay

Alextheshadowgirl

Books ‘N’ Feathers

Yeah, yeah, I know I was supposed to nominate only 6, but hey, this is a super-cool challenge and I’m curious to see how you all tackle it! 😉

Enjoy and good luck! 😀

P.S. Anyone else who wants to participate in the fun, look at rule #3 and jump in, just like I did! I’m excited to see your post!
